Counselling for Women's Life Transitions

You Don’t Have to Carry It All Alone

Women often carry many responsibilities at once—work, relationships, parenting, family, and the expectations we place on ourselves. Over time, it can become overwhelming.

At Lighted Harbour Counselling, I offer a warm, supportive space where women can slow down, feel heard, and work through the challenges they are facing. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, or a major life transition, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Anxiety, Stress & Depression

When Life Feels Overwhelming
Anxiety, stress, and depression can affect how you feel, think, connect, and cope each day. You don’t have to navigate these challenges on your own. Counselling provides a supportive space to slow down, feel understood, and take steps toward greater balance and well-being.

Perinatal, PMAD, Perimenopause & Menopause

You Deserve Support Through Every Stage
From pregnancy and postpartum changes to perimenopause and menopause, women can experience shifts in mood, identity, relationships, and well-being. You don’t have to navigate these transitions alone. A safe space to talk, reflect, and feel understood can make a difference.

Work-Life Balance & Life Transitions

Finding Balance Through Change
Juggling work, family, relationships, and personal responsibilities can leave little time for yourself. Major life changes can also bring uncertainty and stress. Counselling can help you slow down, gain perspective, set healthy boundaries, and create a greater sense of balance.

Anxiety, Depression & Burnout

When Life Starts to Feel Like Too Much

Do you always feel exhausted, overwhelmed, constantly worried, emotionally drained, or disconnected from yourself? Sometimes anxiety and depression can affect sleep, motivation, relationships, confidence, and your ability to enjoy the things you once loved.

You're in the right place. I'm here to support you in navigating and developing tools to manage anxiety and depression, find regulation and balance, regain confidence and restore the authentic you!

Counselling can help you understand what may be contributing to these feelings, recognize patterns, develop practical strategies, and begin creating more balance in your life.

Support may include concerns related to:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Burnout and work-life balance

  • Low self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Perfectionism and self-criticism

  • ADHD-related challenges

  • Relationship and communication difficulties

  • Parenting stress

Women’s Life Transitions

Perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, pregnancy or perinatal loss, perimenopause, and menopause.

I also support women navigating perinatal and postpartum mental health concerns, pregnancy or perinatal loss, perimenopause, and menopause.

Supporting You Through Change

Life can bring transitions that affect how we see ourselves and our place in the world. Becoming a parent, changes in relationships, career pressures, shifting family roles, or entering a new stage of life can bring uncertainty and emotional challenges.

These experiences can affect mood, confidence, relationships, sleep, identity, and overall well-being. Counselling offers a space to explore these changes with compassion and without judgment.

FAQs

1. What is women's mental health counselling?

Women's mental health counselling is a supportive space to talk through what you're carrying, whether that's anxiety, low mood, depression, big life changes or feeling unlike yourself. At Lighted Harbour Counselling in Airdrie, AB, I support women through every stage of life, including pregnancy, early parenthood, perimenopause and menopause. You don't need to be in crisis to start. Many women come simply because they're tired of coping alone.

2. What concerns do you help with?

I support women with anxiety, depression, mood changes, stress, feeling overwhelmed, perinatal and postpartum emotional health, perimenopause and menopause, and life transitions.

3. How do I know if I need counselling for anxiety or depression?

Signs can include constant worry, a racing mind, trouble sleeping, low energy, irritability, tearfulness, loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, or feeling numb or overwhelmed most days. If these feelings are lasting or getting in the way of daily life, counselling can help you make sense of what you're experiencing and build tools that work for you.

4. Do you offer perinatal and postpartum counselling in Airdrie?

Yes. We support women during pregnancy and after birth, including worry, mood changes, adjusting to parenthood, birth experiences and feeling like you're not yourself. It's common to feel more than joy, and it's okay to ask for help. Counselling doesn't replace medical care, so I encourage you to speak with your doctor or midwife about any physical or medical concerns too.

5. Can counselling help with perimenopause and menopause?

Hormonal changes can affect mood, anxiety, sleep, focus and confidence, and many women feel unprepared for it. Counselling can help you understand these changes, manage stress and anxiety, and adjust to this stage of life with more support. I don't provide medical treatment, so I encourage you to talk with your doctor about symptoms and options as well.

6. What happens in the first session?

The first session is basically to gather more information and build rapport. We'll talk about what brought you in, what you're hoping for and what's been hard, and I'll answer any questions. You choose how much to share, and there's no pressure to tell your whole story at once.

7. Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Counselling is confidential, with limits required by law and professional standards, such as a risk of serious harm to yourself or others. We'll explain how confidentiality works at the start of your first session.

There are circumstances in which the release of information might be necessary without written consent, called limits to confidentiality. If you are in imminent danger of harming yourself or another person (s), appropriate action will be taken to ensure the person’s safety. If a minor, a dependent adult or a vulnerable person is being physically, psychologically, or sexually abused or neglected, or if that person may require protection. Furthermore, if I believe that a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another, I am required to take preventative measures (notifying the potential victim, contacting the RCMP, or seeking hospitalization of the client). Finally, in cases where the clinician is requested by the court to reveal treatment records,  I must comply. These situations rarely arise, and I will make every effort to discuss it with you before acting.

8. Do you offer in-person counselling in Airdrie?

Yes. Sessions are held in person in Airdrie, AB #3 Highland Green, Uit 3001, 2nd floor

9. How long will I need counselling, and how often are sessions?

It depends on your goals and what you're going through. Some women find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer ongoing support. Sessions are commonly weekly or every two weeks, and I'll check in with you regularly about how it's going. I can't promise specific outcomes, but we can work together and discuss how you feel about your progress.

10. How much does it cost, and how do I book?

Session fees are $180, and you will be provided with a receipt for insurance. Many extended health plans cover counselling, so check your benefits. To book women's counselling in Airdrie, contact us at 587-02-7930 or lightedharbour@gmail.com
